Your Complete Guide to the Jewelry Customization Process

Step 1: Start with an Idea

As much as we would love to be able to step inside your mind and present you with exactly what you want, you have to do some homework of your own to. Sometimes it involves asking yourself a few questions such as...

  • Do I want to re-design a piece I used to love, but no longer wear?
  • Do I have a family heirloom that isn't exactly my taste, but I want to use the gemstones for a new heirloom?
  • Do I want something brand new featuring a gemstone that I have always loved?

Once you have your idea in mind, and any pictures or drawings make an appointment!

Step 2: Make an Appointment with a Jewelry Designer

When we start a custom design project with any of our clients we want to make sure that you have our uninterrupted and undivided attention. For about an hour, you will sit with our in-house designer, Susan Drake and she will go over every aspect of your design and discuss the best way to approach your project.

Step 3: Sketches and Wax Carvings

After your appointment the magic happens! Susan Drake will work on a custom sketch of your piece for your approval then move onto a wax carving!

Step 4: Wax Carving Approval

Before your piece is cast, you will have another appointment with Susan Drake for a "test-run" to work out any parts of the jewelry you may not like, and to make sure the fit is right.

Step 5: Cast Jewelry & Setting Gemstones

This is where the true magic happens! Once we have your piece cast and polished, we set your gemstones and diamonds!

Typically the design process can last 4-12 weeks and consist of at least 3 appointments before delivery. We want to make sure that this is an enjoyable experience to tell all your friends and family about!
