See Shore - North Carolina Painters Drawing Inspiration from Coastal Life

Our June show, SEE Shore, opened June 16th and features the work of four exceptional North Carolina artists - Chip Hemingway, Kimberlee Maselli, Rebecca DiMaio, and Susan Hecht.

CYC - a sailboat painting by Wilmington, NC artist Chip Heminway

Shop Chip Hemingway

Chip Hemingway draws inspiration from the natural and human world, both of which provide endless opportunities to create his impressionistic impasto paintings, both en plein air and in his studio. An avid surfer, you may often catch Chip within the surf line around Wrightsville Beach, capturing the flurry of tide, the people, and billowing clouds on his easel which he takes with him everywhere he goes.

Coastal Rhythm, a coastal painting by North Carolina artist, Kimberlee Maselli

Shop Kimberlee Maselli

Kimberlee Maselli's artwork explores a wide range of subject matter, from abstracts, to landscapes of coastal and woodland scenes. Working with a combination of brushes, palette knives and bold colors, she creates a visual journey into each painting's subtle complexities and unfolding narrative.

Reflections, a kayak painting by Wilmington, NC artist Rebecca DiMaio

Shop Rebecca DiMaio

Rebecca DiMaio, a Pennsylvania native, focuses on color and intricate details within the natural world. By thinning her oil paints, Rebecca works in layers to build her painting in pieces and enhance the color and detail as much as possible in a photorealism style. She focuses on the shapes, color, and contrast throughout her landscapes and coastal art.

Saturday Traditions, a fishing painting by North Carolina artist, Susan Hecht

Shop Susan Hecht

Susan Hecht likens the act of painting to dancing or playing music, taking away the experience at the end of the moment. Susan's favorite subject matter is people at the beach, she feels this is truly a space she can capture people in the moment. If a painting brings someone joy, Susan considers the painting successful.

Each of these four artists have their own distinctive style and method of capturing Coastal Life - from impressionism to photorealism, Chip Hemingway, Kimberlee Maselli, Rebecca DiMaio, and Susan Hecht bring something for everyone.
