carved steel damascus knifes gifts for men

Andrew Holz started making custom knives in 1972 with two goals in mind: great field performance and pleasing aesthetics.

Using Damascus and D2 steel, He spends many hours grinding, shaping, and polishing a blade to achieve the perfect blade geometry. Andrew enjoys the handle making process because it allows for more creativity by using exotic woods, leather, bone, horn, antler, mammoth ivory, and various stones and inlays.

In the beginning, Andrew struggled with cost effective ways to bring the knife and handle together so, he started making custom cast bronze and nickel guards, bolsters, and pommels for all knife makers in addition to select Damascus and D2 steel.
