The Spectrum Spotlight - A Pop-Up Gallery
will debut during the September Fourth Friday Gallery Night
with “Experi-Metal” by Anne Cunningham and
Live Music by Roger Davis

Spectrum Gallery has been a staple of the Wilmington art scene since its inception in 1997.  When Spectrum relocated to the Forum shopping center in 2000 they left off being a part of the downtown art events due to the distance from the activities.  However a strategic partnership with a downtown investment firm and with the blessings of the Arts Council of Wilmington, Spectrum is proud to announce their newest venue:  The Spectrum Spotlight.  The Spectrum Spotlight is a “Pop-Up” Gallery that will exist each month for the duration of the Fourth Friday Gallery Night.  Star Sosa, owner and creator of Spectrum Gallery, was delighted to work with InnerBanks Wealth Management, INVEST Financial Corporation, a boutique investment management firm that recently opened gorgeous new offices at 105 Grace Street.  When filled with original art from Spectrum, the new space makes an elegant showcase for Gallery Nights.

This month’s Spectrum Spotlight will feature local artist, Anne Cunningham.  The show is entitled “Experi-Metal”.  All the works are on various types of metal.  This collection is the culmination of a lifetime as an experimental artist, stretching the boundaries between painting and sculpture.  The reflective quality of sheet copper, steel and aluminum provide a radiant foundation for translucent paints and patinas.  The stark flatness of the metal is brought to life with texture and pattern by the application of the various colors.  Warm hints of copper peek through the design like sunlight through leaves.  In contrast, the cool white metals, steel and aluminum, give the colors a jewel-like glow reminiscent of the interior of an abalone shell.  Her artworks blend crisp, sharp edges of the metal surfaces which she softens with freeform organic paintings accented with smaller details of added metal and texturing compound.

Following the Spectrum Spotlight pop-up gallery all of the featured works will be available at Spectrum Gallery at The Forum on Military Cutoff Road.  There will be an artist’s reception at Spectrum Gallery on Thursday, October 8th, from 6-9pm, for the formal opening of the show.

The Spectrum Spotlight, a Fourth Friday Gallery Night pop-up gallery, at InnerBanks Wealth Management, INVEST Financial Corporation will include refreshments and live music by local jazz musician, Roger Davis.  This event is from 6-9pm and will be free and open to the public.  The address is 105 Grace Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.   For more information contact Spectrum Gallery at 910-256-2323 or visit www.spectrumartandjewelry.com
